Ingredients
Chicken Wings
- 1 kg chicken wings
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, sliced
For the Sauce
- 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp sriracha, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 220°C to prepare for baking the chicken wings to a perfect crisp.
- Dry the Wings: Pat the chicken wings very dry using paper towels to ensure crispiness during baking.
- Season Wings: Toss the wings with baking powder, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and black pepper to evenly coat and enhance flavor.
- Arrange on Rack: Place the seasoned wings in a single layer on a wire rack set over a baking sheet to allow air circulation while baking.
- Bake Wings: Bake the wings for 40–45 minutes, turning them halfway through, until they are crisp and cooked through.
- Prepare Sauce: While the wings bake, combine sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and sriracha (if using) in a saucepan.
- Simmer Sauce: Simmer the sauce over medium-low heat for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly and flavors meld.
- Coat Wings: Transfer the baked wings into a large bowl and pour the warm sauce over them. Toss thoroughly until each wing is coated with the sticky sauce.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top for garnish. Serve the wings immediately for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
- Patting the wings completely dry helps them become crispier.
- Add more sriracha for extra heat according to taste.
- For an air-fryer version, cook at 200°C for about 20–25 minutes, turning halfway.
- Toss the wings with the sauce immediately before serving for the best texture and to maintain crispiness.
