Description

These Spinach and Feta Turkey Burgers are juicy, flavorful, and packed with fresh spinach, creamy feta, garlic, and Mediterranean herbs. Easy to cook on the stovetop or grill, they offer a healthy and satisfying alternative to traditional beef burgers perfect for a nutritious family meal or casual get-together.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground turkey
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, finely chopped
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

To Serve

  • 4–6 burger buns
  • Tzatziki, for serving
  • Tomato and cucumber slices, optional

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, add ground turkey, finely chopped spinach, crumbled feta cheese, minced garlic, finely chopped red onion, egg, breadcrumbs, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the mixture to maintain tender burgers.
  2. Form Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 to 6 even portions and shape each into a patty, ensuring they hold together well. For better shape retention, chill the patties in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes before cooking.
  3. Preheat Cook Surface: Heat a large skillet over medium heat with the olive oil or preheat a grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Cook Burgers: Place the patties on the skillet or grill and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) to ensure they are cooked through and safe to eat.
  5. Rest Patties: Once cooked, let the burgers rest for a few minutes to allow juices to redistribute, preserving their moistness.
  6. Serve: Serve the turkey burgers on toasted buns topped with tzatziki sauce, and optionally add tomato and cucumber slices or your favorite burger toppings.

Notes

  • If using frozen spinach, thoroughly squeeze out excess moisture before mixing to prevent soggy patties.
  • Chilling patties before cooking helps them hold their shape and reduces crumbling during cooking.
  • Avoid overmixing the turkey mixture to keep the burgers tender and juicy.
  • Pair these burgers with a Greek salad, roasted potatoes, or Greek fries for a complete Mediterranean meal.
  • Store any cooked burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
