Description

A soft and lightly sweet quick bread that is easy to prepare with common pantry ingredients. This simple sweet bread is perfect for breakfast or a snack, and pairs beautifully with butter, jam, or honey.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt to ensure they are evenly combined.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.
  5. Pour Batter into Pan: Transfer the batter into the greased loaf pan and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45–50 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Let cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Add cinnamon or lemon zest to the batter for an extra burst of flavor.
  • Serve warm with butter, honey, or fruit preserves for a delightful treat.
