Description

This Sheet Pan Pizza features a crispy edge with a fluffy center, topped with savory tomato sauce, melted mozzarella, and your favorite toppings like pepperoni, bell peppers, and onions. Easy to prepare and perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings, this homemade pizza offers a delightful mix of textures and flavors baked to perfection on a sheet pan.

Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Pizza

  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni, optional
  • 1/2 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt until combined evenly.
  2. Form the Dough: Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients and mix until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough: Knead the dough for 5 to 7 minutes on a lightly floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the Dough Rise: Cover the dough and place it in a warm spot to rise for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Generously oil a large rimmed sheet pan to prevent sticking.
  6. Shape the Dough: Transfer the risen dough to the sheet pan and gently stretch it out toward the edges. Let it rest for an additional 15 to 20 minutes if it springs back.
  7. Add Toppings: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese, pepperoni (if using), bell pepper slices, red onion slices, dried oregano, and garlic powder over the sauce. Drizzle olive oil on top for added richness.
  8. Bake the Pizza: Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  9. Cool and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • If the dough springs back while stretching, allow it to rest for a few more minutes before stretching again to avoid tearing.
  • Feel free to add toppings like mushrooms, olives, sausage, or fresh basil to customize your pizza.
  • For a crispier bottom crust, preheat the oiled sheet pan in the oven before placing the dough on it.
  • Store leftover pizza in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat before serving.
