Description

A comforting Turkish-inspired chicken dish featuring tender boneless chicken thighs cooked in a smooth and creamy white sauce enriched with garlic, paprika, and subtle spices, perfect for a hearty meal.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 500 g boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and cook the boneless chicken thighs until they are browned on both sides and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  2. Sauté Garlic: In the same pan, melt the butter and add the minced garlic. Sauté the garlic gently until it becomes fragrant but not browned.
  3. Make the Roux: Stir in the flour to the butter and garlic mixture, cooking briefly while stirring continuously to form a roux. This will help thicken the sauce later.
  4. Add Milk or Cream: Gradually pour in the milk or cream while stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Continue stirring until the mixture becomes smooth.
  5. Season the Sauce: Add paprika, salt, and pepper to the sauce and stir well to combine all flavors.
  6. Simmer with Chicken: Return the cooked chicken thighs to the pan and let everything simmer gently until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken well.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the dish before serving. Serve warm, ideally with rice or flatbread.

Notes

  • Use yogurt instead of cream for a lighter, tangier version of the sauce.
  • Best served with a side of rice or traditional Turkish flatbread to soak up the creamy sauce.
  • Avoid overcooking the sauce to prevent curdling and keep it smooth.
