Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 500 g smoked sausage, sliced
- 1/2 medium green cabbage, chopped
- 400 g baby potatoes, halved
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
Seasonings & Oil
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven. Set your oven to 220°C (428°F) to prepare for roasting the foil packs.
- Prepare Foil Sheets. Cut four large pieces of heavy-duty aluminum foil, enough to hold and seal each individual portion safely.
- Assemble Ingredients. Divide the chopped cabbage, halved baby potatoes, sliced carrots, onion, and smoked sausage evenly among the foil sheets.
- Add Olive Oil. Drizzle approximately 3/4 tablespoon of olive oil over each portion to help the ingredients roast and keep moist.
- Season the Mix. Sprinkle minced garlic, smoked paprika, dried thyme, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper over each foil pack evenly to infuse flavors.
- Toss Gently. Carefully toss and mix the ingredients inside each foil piece to distribute seasoning without tearing the foil.
- Seal the Packets. Fold and seal the foil tightly around the ingredients to create individual packets that lock in moisture and heat.
- Bake the Foil Packs. Place the sealed packets on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the sausage is heated through.
- Open Carefully. Remove the packets from the oven and carefully open them, watching out for hot steam escaping to avoid burns.
- Garnish and Serve. Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the hot foil packs and serve immediately for a warm, flavorful meal.
Notes
- Cut the potatoes into small, evenly sized pieces to ensure they cook at the same rate as the other vegetables.
- For a lighter meat option, substitute smoked sausage with chicken or turkey sausage.
- Add variety by including zucchini, bell peppers, or green beans with the main vegetables.
- For extra browning and caramelization, open the foil packets during the last 5 to 10 minutes of cooking and bake uncovered.
