Description

A deeply flavorful Japanese ramen bowl featuring tender, crispy pork belly, chewy noodles, and savory soy-marinated eggs in a rich umami-packed broth. This comforting main course highlights the perfect balance of savory miso and soy sauce flavors, garnished with fresh green onions and a drizzle of sesame oil for added aroma and depth.

Ingredients

Meat and Eggs

  • 200 g pork belly, sliced
  • 2 ramen eggs (soy-marinated and halved)

Broth

  • 4 cups chicken or pork broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon miso paste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated

Noodles and Garnish

  • 2 packs ramen noodles
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pork Belly: In a pot over medium heat, sear the sliced pork belly until browned and slightly crispy, developing rich flavor and texture.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot with the pork belly and sauté briefly until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Simmer Broth: Pour in the chicken or pork broth, soy sauce, and miso paste. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer lightly for 15 to 20 minutes to meld the flavors and tenderize the pork belly further.
  4. Cook the Noodles: While the broth simmers, cook ramen noodles separately according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain thoroughly.
  5. Assemble the Bowls: Divide the cooked noodles evenly between two bowls. Ladle the hot broth and pork belly over the noodles, ensuring each bowl has plenty of broth and meat.
  6. Add Toppings: Top each bowl with halved soy eggs and sliced green onions for freshness and additional savory notes.
  7. Finish with Sesame Oil: Drizzle about half a teaspoon of sesame oil on top of each bowl right before serving to add a nutty aroma and enhance the overall flavor.

Notes

  • Use homemade chicken or pork broth for a richer and more authentic flavor.
  • Add chili oil or fresh chili slices if you prefer a spicy kick.
  • Substitute pork belly with chicken thighs or firm tofu for a different protein option.
  • Marinate eggs in soy sauce and mirin overnight for classic soy eggs.
