Ingredients
Meat and Eggs
- 200 g pork belly, sliced
- 2 ramen eggs (soy-marinated and halved)
Broth
- 4 cups chicken or pork broth
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon miso paste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
Noodles and Garnish
- 2 packs ramen noodles
- 1 green onion, sliced
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Pork Belly: In a pot over medium heat, sear the sliced pork belly until browned and slightly crispy, developing rich flavor and texture.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot with the pork belly and sauté briefly until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Simmer Broth: Pour in the chicken or pork broth, soy sauce, and miso paste. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer lightly for 15 to 20 minutes to meld the flavors and tenderize the pork belly further.
- Cook the Noodles: While the broth simmers, cook ramen noodles separately according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain thoroughly.
- Assemble the Bowls: Divide the cooked noodles evenly between two bowls. Ladle the hot broth and pork belly over the noodles, ensuring each bowl has plenty of broth and meat.
- Add Toppings: Top each bowl with halved soy eggs and sliced green onions for freshness and additional savory notes.
- Finish with Sesame Oil: Drizzle about half a teaspoon of sesame oil on top of each bowl right before serving to add a nutty aroma and enhance the overall flavor.
Notes
- Use homemade chicken or pork broth for a richer and more authentic flavor.
- Add chili oil or fresh chili slices if you prefer a spicy kick.
- Substitute pork belly with chicken thighs or firm tofu for a different protein option.
- Marinate eggs in soy sauce and mirin overnight for classic soy eggs.
