Ingredients
Filling Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1 cup grated carrots
- 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for filling)
Dumpling Wrappers & Frying
- 10 rice paper wrappers
- 2 tbsp oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing them for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Cook the Vegetables: Add shredded cabbage, grated carrots, finely chopped mushrooms, and sliced green onions to the skillet. Stir in soy sauce and sesame oil, then cook the mixture until the vegetables soften, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.
- Soften Rice Paper Wrappers: Dip one rice paper wrapper in warm water for 10–15 seconds until pliable, then place it on a flat surface.
- Assemble the Dumplings: Spoon a portion of the vegetable filling into the center of the softened rice paper wrapper. Fold the wrapper into a square or rectangle shape, enclosing the filling completely. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Pan-Fry the Dumplings: Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the dumplings in the skillet and pan-fry for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until they turn crisp and golden brown.
- Serve: Remove the dumplings from the skillet and serve hot with soy sauce or sweet chili sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For extra durability, double-wrap each dumpling with two rice paper wrappers.
- These dumplings can be air-fried at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes as a healthier alternative to pan-frying.
- Try varying the filling by incorporating tofu, shrimp, or chicken for different flavors.
