Description
Crispy, golden Parmesan crusted chicken baked in the oven for a healthier yet flavorful meal. Juicy on the inside with a savory, cheesy coating that makes a perfect main course for family dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
Chicken and Coating
- 4 chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Binding and Finishing
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
- Mix Coating: In a medium bowl, combine grated Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to evenly distribute all the flavors.
- Prepare Egg Wash: In another bowl, beat the egg until smooth. This will help the coating adhere to the chicken breasts.
- Coat Chicken: Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, ensuring it is fully coated, then press it into the Parmesan breadcrumb mixture to cover it evenly with the crust.
- Arrange and Drizzle: Place the coated chicken breasts onto the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil evenly over the top of each to promote browning and crispiness.
- Bake: Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the chicken is cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). For extra crispiness, flip the chicken halfway through baking.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use panko breadcrumbs for an extra crunchy texture.
- Flip the chicken halfway through baking to ensure even crispiness on both sides.
- Serve with fresh salad or your favorite vegetables to balance the meal.
