Description

Oven-Baked Turkey and Cheese Sliders are soft, warm mini sandwiches filled with sliced turkey and melted cheese, baked together with a buttery topping infused with mustard, garlic, poppy seeds, and onion flakes. These sliders are perfect for parties, quick snacks, or family meals, offering a delightful combination of savory flavors and a golden crust.

Ingredients

Sliders

  • 12 slider rolls
  • 12 slices deli turkey
  • 6 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese

Topping

  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sliders.
  2. Prepare the rolls: Slice each slider roll in half horizontally and place the bottom halves evenly in a baking dish.
  3. Assemble the filling: Layer 12 slices of deli turkey evenly over the bottom halves of the rolls, then add 6 slices of Swiss or cheddar cheese on top of the turkey.
  4. Add the top buns: Place the top halves of the slider rolls over the cheese and turkey layers, covering the filling.
  5. Make the butter topping: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, poppy seeds, and dried onion flakes until well combined.
  6. Brush the topping: Generously brush the butter mixture over the tops of the slider rolls to coat them evenly.
  7. Bake covered: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to warm the sliders and melt the cheese.
  8. Finish baking uncovered: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the tops to become golden brown and slightly crispy.
  9. Serve: Slice the sliders apart and serve warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Hawaiian rolls work especially well for a slightly sweet flavor.
  • Swiss cheese offers a milder taste, while cheddar provides a sharper flavor—choose based on your preference.
  • You can add a little fresh cracked pepper or a dash of hot sauce inside the sliders for an extra kick.
  • Covering the sliders while baking helps melt the cheese thoroughly without drying out the rolls.
