Description

Rich chocolate Oreo cupcakes with crushed Oreos inside and topped with a creamy Oreo buttercream frosting, perfect for celebrations and cookie lovers.

Ingredients

Cupcakes

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 10 Oreo cookies, crushed

Oreo Frosting

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 Oreo cookies, finely crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin pan with cupcake liners to prepare for baking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk the eggs, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and well blended.
  4. Mix Batter: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir gently to combine. Then fold in the crushed Oreo cookies, being careful not to overmix to keep the batter light.
  5. Fill Cupcake Liners: Spoon the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full to allow room for rising.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18–22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. Prepare Frosting: Beat the softened butter with an electric mixer until creamy and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in heavy cream and vanilla extract until smooth.
  8. Add Oreo Pieces to Frosting: Fold the finely crushed Oreo cookies into the frosting gently to incorporate them evenly.
  9. Frost Cupcakes: Once the cupcakes are completely cool, spread or pipe the Oreo buttercream frosting on top of each cupcake. Garnish with mini Oreo cookies if desired.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the batter to ensure cupcakes are light and fluffy.
  • Store cupcakes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days to maintain freshness.
