Description

These Mediterranean Turkey Burgers are juicy, flavorful, and packed with fresh Greek-inspired ingredients. Ground turkey is combined with garlic, herbs, feta, and lemon, then grilled or pan-seared and served with tzatziki and fresh vegetables for a healthy and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground turkey
  • ½ small red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4–6 burger buns or pita breads

For Serving

  • Tzatziki, for serving
  • Tomato and cucumber slices, for serving
  • Red onion slices, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, finely chopped red onion, minced garlic, crumbled feta cheese, fresh parsley, fresh dill, fresh lemon juice, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix everything until just combined to avoid making the burgers dense.
  2. Shape the patties: Divide the turkey mixture into 4 to 6 portions depending on desired size, then shape each portion into a patty slightly larger than the buns or pita breads you will use.
  3. Preheat your cooking surface: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat or preheat your grill to medium-high heat, preparing to cook the patties.
  4. Cook the burgers: Place the turkey patties onto the skillet or grill and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes per side, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), ensuring they are fully cooked and juicy.
  5. Toast the bread: While the burgers cook, toast the burger buns or warm the pita breads to add a nice texture and flavor.
  6. Assemble and serve: Spread tzatziki sauce over the buns or pita, then top with the cooked turkey burgers and add fresh tomato, cucumber, and red onion slices. Serve immediately with Greek salad, roasted potatoes, or Greek fries for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the turkey mixture to keep the burgers tender and juicy.
  • Chill the shaped patties in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes before cooking to help them hold their shape better.
  • Ground chicken can be substituted for ground turkey if preferred.
  • Add sliced Kalamata olives to the mixture for an extra burst of Mediterranean flavor.
  • Store cooked burgers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat thoroughly before serving.
