Description
Tender, bite-sized pieces of white fish pan-fried until golden and coated in a bright, buttery lemon sauce. This light and flavorful dish is perfect as a quick main course or an appetizer, combining crispy fish with a zesty, garlicky lemon butter glaze.
Ingredients
Fish and Coating
- 400 g white fish (cut into bite-sized pieces, preferably cod or tilapia)
- 1/2 cup flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
- Season and Coat Fish: Season the bite-sized fish pieces generously with salt and pepper. Lightly dredge the pieces in flour, shaking off any excess to ensure a thin coating.
- Pan-Fry Fish: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the fish pieces in a single layer without overcrowding the pan. Cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side, then remove from pan and set aside.
- Prepare Lemon Butter Sauce: In the same pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute, taking care not to burn the garlic.
- Add Lemon Juice: Stir in the lemon juice into the butter and garlic mixture, combining well to create a bright, flavorful sauce.
- Toss Fish in Sauce: Return the cooked fish bites to the pan. Gently toss them in the lemon butter sauce to coat evenly.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the fish for a fresh finish. Serve the fish bites warm, either as a main dish or appetizer, alongside rice or salad if desired.
Notes
- Use firm white fish like cod or tilapia for best texture and flavor.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan to keep the fish crispy and evenly cooked.
- Serve with rice, salad, or enjoy as a light starter to a meal.
