Description
Iced Tea Popsicles are a refreshing frozen treat combining brewed tea, fresh fruit, and a touch of sweetness. This easy and customizable recipe transforms classic iced tea into a fun, frozen delight perfect for hot summer days and parties.
Ingredients
Tea Base
- 4 cups water
- 4 black tea bags or green tea bags
- 2-3 tablespoons honey or granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Fruit & Flavorings
- 1 cup fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries), sliced as needed
- Fresh mint leaves (optional, for flavor and garnish)
Instructions
- Brew the tea: Boil 4 cups of water and steep 4 tea bags (black or green) according to package instructions, usually 3-5 minutes. Remove the tea bags once brewed.
- Sweeten the tea: While the tea is still warm, stir in 2-3 tablespoons of honey or granulated sugar until completely dissolved, adjusting sweetness to your preference.
- Cool the tea: Allow the brewed tea to cool down to room temperature, then add 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice and stir to combine.
- Prepare the fruit: Slice fresh berries or any preferred fruit to fit into the popsicle molds.
- Assemble the popsicles: Divide the prepared fruit evenly among the popsicle molds, pour the cooled tea mixture over the fruit, leaving a bit of space at the top for expansion.
- Insert sticks: Place the popsicle sticks into the molds carefully.
- Freeze: Freeze the molds for at least 4 to 6 hours, or preferably overnight, until fully solid.
- Serve: To release the popsicles, briefly run the outside of the molds under warm water for a few seconds, then gently pull on the sticks to remove. Serve immediately for a refreshing treat.
Notes
- You can substitute black or green tea with herbal teas like hibiscus, peach, or fruit-flavored teas for variety.
- Use decaffeinated tea if you want a caffeine-free treat.
- Frozen fruits can be used directly in the molds if fresh are unavailable.
- If you prefer less sweetness, reduce or omit the honey or sugar.
- Adding fresh herbs like mint or basil enhances the flavor.
- Store popsicles in freezer-safe containers or bags for up to a few weeks.
- Running the mold under warm water helps ease popsicle removal without melting the treat.
