Description

Honey Harissa Baked Feta is a delectable Mediterranean appetizer combining the creamy texture of baked feta with the spicy kick of harissa paste, balanced by the sweetness of honey. Topped with fresh lemon zest, crunchy pistachios, and parsley, this warm and flavorful dish is perfect to serve with crusty bread or crackers for an irresistible start to any meal.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 8 oz block feta cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp harissa paste
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp chopped pistachios
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Fresh cracked black pepper, to taste
  • Crusty bread or crackers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the feta cheese.
  2. Prepare Feta: Place the 8 oz block of feta cheese in a small baking dish suitable for oven use.
  3. Mix Topping: In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of harissa paste, and 1 tablespoon of honey until well blended.
  4. Add Topping to Feta: Spoon the harissa and honey mixture evenly over the top of the feta block, ensuring it is well coated.
  5. Bake Feta: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the feta is soft and lightly golden on top.
  6. Add Final Toppings: Remove the baked feta from the oven and immediately sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon zest, 1 tablespoon of chopped pistachios, 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley, and freshly cracked black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve: Serve the warm honey harissa baked feta immediately with crusty bread or crackers to enjoy as a delightful appetizer.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of harissa paste to suit your preferred spice level, using less if you prefer milder heat.
  • This dish works wonderfully as a standalone appetizer or as part of a larger Mediterranean mezze platter.
  • Ensure to use good quality feta and fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
