Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup honey
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and grease a baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.
- Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and honey until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined, avoiding overmixing to ensure a tender crumb.
- Pour Batter into Pan: Transfer the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly for uniform baking.
- Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the cornbread to cool slightly before slicing. For added sweetness, drizzle extra honey over the top before serving.
