Description

These Hawaiian Pork Chops are juicy, sweet, and savory, cooked with pineapple, bell peppers, and a delicious brown sugar soy glaze for a tropical-inspired family dinner that’s quick and easy to prepare on the stovetop.

Ingredients

Pork Chops

  • 4 boneless pork chops
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Vegetables & Fruit

  • 1 cup pineapple chunks
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • ½ onion, sliced

Sauce

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

Instructions

  1. Season Pork Chops: Pat the pork chops dry, then season both sides evenly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to enhance the flavor.
  2. Sear Pork Chops: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the pork chops and sear them for 3 to 4 minutes per side until they develop a golden brown crust.
  3. Remove Chops: Transfer the seared pork chops to a plate temporarily to rest while preparing the vegetables and sauce.
  4. Cook Vegetables and Pineapple: In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers, onions, and pineapple chunks. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender and the pineapple releases its juices.
  5. Prepare Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, and minced garlic until well combined to make the glaze.
  6. Simmer Pork Chops in Sauce: Return the pork chops to the skillet, pour the sauce mixture over them, and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer uncovered for 8 to 10 minutes until the pork chops are fully cooked and the sauce thickens.
  7. Serve: Serve the Hawaiian pork chops hot over steamed rice or your preferred side for a complete tropical meal.

Notes

  • Using fresh pineapple chunks will provide the best flavor and texture for this dish.
  • Chicken breasts can be substituted for pork chops to vary the protein.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions or fresh herbs for added freshness and presentation.
  • Adjust sweetness by modifying the brown sugar according to your taste preference.
  • Ensure pork reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) for safe consumption.
