Ingredients
For the Chicken
- 1 lb chicken breast, grilled and sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
For the Tzatziki Sauce
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 cucumber, grated and drained
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Dill to taste
To Serve
- Pita bread
- Tomato, sliced
- Cucumber, sliced
- Red onion, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated and thoroughly drained cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and dill. Mix well until smooth and flavors are fully incorporated. Refrigerate to chill while you cook the chicken.
- Cook the Chicken: Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Brush the chicken breast with olive oil and season generously with salt and black pepper. Grill or pan-fry the chicken for about 6-7 minutes per side or until fully cooked and juices run clear. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Assemble the Dish: Warm the pita bread slightly on the grill or skillet. Place sliced chicken inside each pita and add a generous dollop of tzatziki. Top with sliced tomato, cucumber, and red onion to finish. Serve immediately for a fresh, satisfying meal.
Notes
- Make sure to drain the grated cucumber well to prevent watery tzatziki.
- You can substitute chicken breasts with thighs if you prefer juicier meat.
- Use fresh dill for the best flavor, but dried dill can be used in a pinch.
- Adjust garlic and lemon juice according to your taste preferences.
- This recipe can easily be doubled for larger gatherings.
