Description

Eggs Benedict Casserole is a delicious make-ahead breakfast dish featuring toasted English muffins, savory Canadian bacon, fluffy baked eggs, and a rich homemade hollandaise sauce. This casserole perfectly captures the classic flavors of traditional Eggs Benedict with less effort, making it ideal for holiday mornings, brunch gatherings, or convenient meal prep.

Ingredients

Casserole

  • 6 English muffins, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 8 oz Canadian bacon, diced
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives

Hollandaise Sauce

  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking dish: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  2. Layer the base: Spread the English muffin cubes evenly in the dish, then top with the diced Canadian bacon.
  3. Mix the egg batter: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Assemble and chill: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and bacon layers. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the bread to soak up the flavors.
  5. Preheat the oven: Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.
  6. Bake the casserole: Remove the cover and bake uncovered for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the top is lightly golden brown.
  7. Make the hollandaise sauce: While the casserole bakes, whisk the egg yolks and lemon juice together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water. Slowly drizzle in the melted butter while whisking continuously until the sauce thickens. Season with a pinch of cayenne pepper and salt to taste.
  8. Serve: Once baked, drizzle the warm hollandaise sauce evenly over the casserole. Garnish with chopped fresh chives and serve immediately for a flavorful breakfast or brunch.

Notes

  • Prepare the casserole the night before for an easy morning bake.
  • Garnish with paprika or fresh parsley for extra color and flavor.
  • Serve alongside fresh fruit or a simple green salad to complement the rich casserole.
