Description
A bold and indulgent Korean fusion dish combining chewy udon noodles with spicy kimchi, crispy bacon, and melted mozzarella cheese. This savory, slightly tangy, and umami-packed meal is incredibly satisfying and perfect for a quick yet flavorful main course.
Ingredients
Noodles & Protein
- 200 g udon noodles
- 100 g bacon, chopped
Vegetables & Flavors
- 1 cup kimchi, chopped
- 1 tablespoon kimchi juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green onion, sliced
Seasonings & Others
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Cook Udon Noodles: Prepare the udon noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set them aside to keep warm.
- Cook Bacon: In a pan, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until it becomes crispy. Remove and drain excess fat from the pan if necessary to avoid greasiness.
- Sauté Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté briefly until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute, to build the aromatic base.
- Stir-Fry Kimchi: Add the chopped kimchi to the pan and stir-fry it for 2 to 3 minutes, allowing it to soften and release its tangy flavors.
- Add Seasonings: Stir in soy sauce, sugar, and kimchi juice to the kimchi mixture, mixing well to enhance the overall flavor balance of sweet, salty, and tangy notes.
- Combine Noodles: Add the cooked udon noodles to the pan and toss everything together thoroughly so that the noodles are well coated with the kimchi and bacon mixture.
- Melt Cheese: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the noodle mixture. Cover the pan to trap the heat and let the cheese melt, creating a creamy, cheesy layer on top.
- Garnish and Serve: Once the cheese has melted, garnish the dish with sliced green onions and serve immediately while hot for best taste and texture.
Notes
- Use aged kimchi for a stronger, more complex flavor profile.
- Adjust the spice level by adding chili flakes if you prefer a hotter dish.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute bacon with mushrooms to maintain umami richness.
