Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can kidney beans, drained
- 1 can black beans, drained
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 cups chicken broth
Spices & Seasoning
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Brown the Turkey: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat and add the ground turkey. Cook until browned and no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spoon to ensure even cooking.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook, stirring often, until the onion softens and becomes translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add Spices: Stir in chili powder, cumin, and paprika. Cook the mixture for 1 minute to toast the spices and enhance their flavors.
- Combine Beans and Tomatoes: Add the drained kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes (with juices), and chicken broth to the pot. Stir everything together until well combined.
- Simmer the Chili: Bring the chili to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking, allowing flavors to meld and the chili to thicken.
- Season and Serve: Taste the chili and adjust salt and pepper as needed. Serve hot, optionally topping with cheese, sour cream, or avocado.
Notes
- Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or fresh avocado slices for extra richness.
- Add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to increase the spiciness as desired.
- Chili tastes even better the next day after flavors have fully developed.
