Description

These crispy Asian potatoes are golden and crunchy, coated with a bold savory glaze made from soy sauce, garlic, and a touch of sweetness. Perfect as a flavorful side dish or a satisfying snack, they combine the silky texture of boiled potatoes with the crispiness from pan-frying.

Ingredients

Potatoes

  • 4 medium potatoes, cubed

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Other

  • 2 tablespoons oil (for frying)
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Potatoes: Place the cubed potatoes in a pot of boiling water and cook for 5–7 minutes until they are slightly tender but not fully cooked. Drain the potatoes well and let them dry completely.
  2. Pan-Fry the Potatoes: Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the drained potatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, until they become crispy and golden brown on all sides, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: While the potatoes are frying, mix together the soy sauce, honey (or sugar), minced garlic, and sesame oil in a small bowl until well combined.
  4. Toss Potatoes in Sauce: Once the potatoes are crispy, remove the pan from heat and immediately toss the potatoes in the prepared sauce, ensuring each piece is evenly coated with the flavorful glaze.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Transfer the glazed potatoes to a serving dish, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Dry the boiled potatoes thoroughly before frying for extra crispiness.
  • Add chili flakes to the sauce or sprinkle on top if you like some heat.
  • Best served immediately to enjoy maximum crispiness.
