Ingredients
Salmon and Seasonings
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Orange Lime Glaze
- ¼ cup fresh orange juice
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare a grill to medium heat. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper if baking to prevent sticking.
- Season the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry, then evenly season each with chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. This creates a flavorful base for the glaze.
- Make the Glaze: In a bowl, whisk together the fresh orange juice, lime juice, honey, minced garlic, orange zest, and red pepper flakes if using. This glaze will add a bright and spicy citrus flavor to the salmon.
- Apply Glaze and Bake: Place the seasoned salmon fillets on the lined baking sheet and brush generously with the orange lime glaze. Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, brushing once more with glaze halfway through, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork. Alternatively, grill the salmon for about 4–5 minutes per side if preferred.
- Serve and Garnish: Spoon any remaining glaze over the cooked salmon just before serving. Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley and serve alongside rice or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- Freshly squeezed citrus juice provides the best vibrant flavor in the glaze.
- Be careful not to overcook the salmon to maintain its moist and tender texture.
- Leftover salmon makes a delicious addition to salads or grain bowls for next-day meals.
