Description

Flavor-packed Tex-Mex burgers stuffed with gooey melted cheese and seasoned with bold spices—juicy, cheesy, and irresistible. These hearty burgers combine traditional Tex-Mex flavors with a cheesy surprise at the center, perfect for a satisfying main course that’s sure to impress.

Ingredients

For the Burgers

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For the Filling

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese

For Serving

  • 4 burger buns
  • Optional: sliced jalapeños
  • Optional: salsa
  • Optional: lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Season the meat: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with paprika, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly but gently to evenly distribute the spices without overworking the meat.
  2. Form the patties: Divide the seasoned beef mixture into 8 thin patties of equal size. Make sure they are thin enough to fold over but still hold their shape.
  3. Add the cheese filling: Place a generous spoonful of shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese in the center of 4 of the patties, leaving room at the edges for sealing.
  4. Seal the burgers: Carefully cover each cheese-topped patty with one of the remaining patties. Press the edges firmly to seal the cheese inside, ensuring no gaps or openings so the cheese does not leak out during cooking.
  5. Cook the burgers: Preheat a grill or a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the stuffed patties for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) and the cheese has melted inside. Avoid pressing the patties down to retain juiciness.
  6. Toast the buns: While the burgers cook, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden and slightly crisp.
  7. Assemble and serve: Place each burger on the toasted buns. Add optional toppings like sliced jalapeños, fresh salsa, and lettuce leaves to taste. Serve immediately for the best melt and flavor.

Notes

  • Seal edges tightly to prevent cheese from leaking during cooking.
  • Adding chopped jalapeños inside the patties will add extra heat and flavor.
  • For safety and best results, cook the burgers to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken, but cooking times and juiciness may vary.
  • Use a blend of cheeses like Monterey Jack or pepper jack for added flavor complexity.
