Description
This flavorful steak marinade blends soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, herbs, and lemon juice to create a tender, juicy, and deeply seasoned steak. Perfect for enhancing the natural flavors of various steak cuts, this marinade is easy to prepare and ideal for grilling or stovetop cooking.
Ingredients
Steak
- 700 g steak (flank, sirloin, ribeye, or strip steak)
Marinade
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: Whisk all marinade ingredients together in a bowl until thoroughly combined, ensuring the flavors meld well.
- Marinate the Steak: Place the steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, turning to coat evenly. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally between 2 to 8 hours for maximum flavor and tenderness.
- Remove and Discard Marinade: Take the steak out of the marinade, discarding any leftover marinade to avoid contamination during cooking.
- Preheat Cooking Surface: Heat a grill or skillet over high heat until very hot, preparing for a good sear on the steak.
- Cook the Steak: Place the steak on the preheated grill or skillet. Cook to your preferred doneness, typically 3-5 minutes per side depending on thickness and desired internal temperature.
- Rest the Steak: Transfer the cooked steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes to allow juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy bite.
- Slice and Serve: Cut the steak against the grain into slices and serve immediately for optimal tenderness and flavor.
Notes
- Flank, sirloin, ribeye, and strip steak are all excellent choices for this marinade.
- Do not marinate for more than 8 hours, as the acidic components can begin to break down the meat and alter its texture.
- Pat the steak dry before searing to achieve a better crust and prevent steaming.
