Description

A delicious balance of tart, sweet, and savory, these Apple and Cheddar Crostini are elegant yet easy, making a perfect appetizer for any occasion.

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 baguette, sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Toppings

  • 1 large apple, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz sharp white cheddar, sliced
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for toasting the crostini.
  2. Toast Baguette Slices: Lightly brush the baguette slices with olive oil to enhance crisping and flavor. Place them on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes until golden and crisp.
  3. Add Toppings: Remove the toasted baguette slices from the oven. Place one slice of sharp white cheddar and one thin slice of apple on top of each crostini.
  4. Melt Cheese: Return the crostini to the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the cheddar cheese has melted nicely over the apple slices.
  5. Finish and Serve: Take the crostini out of the oven and immediately drizzle with honey for a touch of sweetness. Sprinkle fresh thyme on top if using, then serve warm for the best flavor experience.

Notes

  • Try substituting pear slices for apples to vary the flavor.
  • Use fig jam instead of honey for a different but complementary sweetness.
