Description
Savory Thai Basil Beef Rolls featuring tender slices of beef rolled with fresh Thai basil and garlic, cooked in a flavorful soy and oyster sauce glaze. Perfect as an appetizer or main dish that brings bold authentic Thai flavors to your table.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound (450 g) thinly sliced beef
- 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Toothpicks or skewers
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef Rolls: Lay the thinly sliced beef flat on a clean surface and place fresh Thai basil leaves on top of each slice. Carefully roll the beef tightly around the basil leaves and secure each roll with a toothpick or skewer to hold the shape during cooking.
- Heat the Pan: Place a pan or skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil. Allow it to heat up until shimmering but not smoking.
- Cook the Beef Rolls: Add the beef rolls to the heated pan and cook, turning them occasionally, until they are browned on all sides, which should take about 6–8 minutes. This ensures even cooking and a nicely seared exterior.
- Add Flavorings: Once browned, add the minced garlic directly into the pan and sauté briefly until fragrant. Then pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sprinkle the sugar over the beef rolls.
- Simmer in Sauce: Continue cooking for 2–3 minutes, gently turning the beef rolls in the sauce, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat the rolls with a delicious glaze.
- Serve Warm: Remove the toothpicks before serving or leave them in for easy handling. Serve the Thai Basil Beef Rolls warm, ideally accompanied by steamed rice to complement the savory flavors.
Notes
- Use tender cuts like sirloin or ribeye for best results to ensure the beef remains soft and easy to roll.
- Do not overcook the beef to keep it tender and juicy; medium doneness is ideal.
- Serve these beef rolls with steamed jasmine rice or sticky rice for a complete Thai-inspired meal.
