Description

Tater Tot Appetizer Cups are a fun, crispy, and versatile snack that’s easy to make and customizable with a variety of savory fillings. Perfect for parties, game days, or casual snacking.

Ingredients

  • Frozen tater tots
  • Shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
  • Cooked beef or sausage (optional)
  • Sour cream or ranch dressing (for serving)
  • Chopped green onions (optional)
  • Salt and pepper
  • For Taco-Style Tater Tot Cups (optional):
  • Cooked ground beef or turkey, seasoned with taco seasoning
  • Salsa
  • Guacamole or avocado
  • Sliced jalapeños (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a muffin tin with cooking spray or line with muffin liners.
  2. Cook the tater tots according to package directions until crispy (usually 20–25 minutes). Let them cool slightly.
  3. Form the cups: Press each tater tot into the bottom of each muffin cup to form a cup shape.
  4. Bake the tater tot cups: Return to the oven for 5–7 minutes until golden brown and crispy around the edges.
  5. Add the filling: Fill each cup with cooked beef, sausage, or taco-style fillings.
  6. Top with cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the filling.
  7. Return to the oven: Bake for an additional 5–7 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve: Top with sour cream, ranch dressing, green onions, guacamole, or your favorite toppings. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Try different fillings like buffalo chicken, breakfast-style eggs and sausage, or even veggie versions with sautéed mushrooms and peppers.
  • For spicy kick, add jalapeños or hot sauce to your fillings.
  • Make them mini pizzas with marinara sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella.
