Description

Classic southern-style sweet potato pie with a silky texture, warm spices, and flaky crust — perfect for Thanksgiving or holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

Pie

  • 1 pie crust (homemade or frozen)

Filling

  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 23 potatoes)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • Pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it is hot enough for baking the pie evenly.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, whisk together the mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, brown sugar, milk or cream, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Assemble Pie: Pour the prepared sweet potato filling into the unbaked pie crust, spreading it evenly to the edges.
  4. Bake: Place the pie on the middle rack of the preheated oven and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is mostly set and the crust is golden brown.
  5. Cool: Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool completely before slicing to let the filling set properly.

Notes
