Description

Fun and festive strawberry Jello cups made with heart-shaped gummies or strawberry slices suspended inside. These bright red treats are perfect for Valentine’s Day parties, kids’ snacks, or classroom celebrations, offering a colorful and delightful dessert that’s simple to prepare and sure to impress.

Ingredients

Gelatin Base

  • 2 (3 oz) boxes strawberry gelatin (Jell-O)
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 cups cold water

Fillings and Toppings

  • 1 cup heart-shaped gummies or strawberry slices
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Valentine sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve Gelatin: In a large bowl, dissolve 2 boxes of strawberry gelatin powder into 2 cups of boiling water, stirring continuously for about 2 minutes until the gelatin is fully dissolved and no granules remain.
  2. Add Cold Water: Stir in 2 cups of cold water to the dissolved gelatin mixture, mixing thoroughly to combine the liquids evenly.
  3. Pour Initial Layer: Pour approximately one quarter of the gelatin mixture into clear cups, filling each about ¼ full to create the base layer.
  4. Refrigerate Partial Set: Place the cups in the refrigerator and chill for 20–30 minutes until the gelatin is slightly set but still tacky to the touch, which helps suspend the fillings properly.
  5. Add Fillings: Carefully add heart-shaped gummies or fresh strawberry slices to the partially set gelatin layer in each cup, arranging them as desired for a festive look.
  6. Top with Remaining Gelatin: Slowly pour the remaining gelatin mixture over the fillings in each cup, ensuring the gummies or fruit stay centered without floating upward.
  7. Chill Until Firm: Refrigerate the cups for an additional 2–3 hours until the gelatin is fully set and firm to the touch.
  8. Add Optional Toppings: Just before serving, optionally top the cups with whipped cream and sprinkle Valentine-themed sprinkles for added decoration and flavor.

Notes

  • Layering the gelatin helps the heart-shaped gummies or fruit stay centered instead of floating to the top.
  • Use clear cups to showcase the colorful design inside the Jello cups.
  • These cups can be prepared up to 2 days in advance for convenience.
  • Keep the Jello cups refrigerated until ready to serve to maintain their shape and freshness.
