Ingredients
Gelatin Base
- 2 (3 oz) boxes strawberry gelatin (Jell-O)
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 cups cold water
Fillings and Toppings
- 1 cup heart-shaped gummies or strawberry slices
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Valentine sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Dissolve Gelatin: In a large bowl, dissolve 2 boxes of strawberry gelatin powder into 2 cups of boiling water, stirring continuously for about 2 minutes until the gelatin is fully dissolved and no granules remain.
- Add Cold Water: Stir in 2 cups of cold water to the dissolved gelatin mixture, mixing thoroughly to combine the liquids evenly.
- Pour Initial Layer: Pour approximately one quarter of the gelatin mixture into clear cups, filling each about ¼ full to create the base layer.
- Refrigerate Partial Set: Place the cups in the refrigerator and chill for 20–30 minutes until the gelatin is slightly set but still tacky to the touch, which helps suspend the fillings properly.
- Add Fillings: Carefully add heart-shaped gummies or fresh strawberry slices to the partially set gelatin layer in each cup, arranging them as desired for a festive look.
- Top with Remaining Gelatin: Slowly pour the remaining gelatin mixture over the fillings in each cup, ensuring the gummies or fruit stay centered without floating upward.
- Chill Until Firm: Refrigerate the cups for an additional 2–3 hours until the gelatin is fully set and firm to the touch.
- Add Optional Toppings: Just before serving, optionally top the cups with whipped cream and sprinkle Valentine-themed sprinkles for added decoration and flavor.
Notes
- Layering the gelatin helps the heart-shaped gummies or fruit stay centered instead of floating to the top.
- Use clear cups to showcase the colorful design inside the Jello cups.
- These cups can be prepared up to 2 days in advance for convenience.
- Keep the Jello cups refrigerated until ready to serve to maintain their shape and freshness.
