Description

Soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls filled with sweet strawberry goodness and topped with a rich glaze. A perfect fruity twist on a classic treat, combining the warmth of cinnamon with the fresh flavor of strawberries for an irresistible dessert.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Filling

  • 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Glaze

  • Optional: powdered sugar and milk or cream for drizzle

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy, indicating the yeast is active.
  2. Prepare dough: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour. Pour in the melted butter, beaten egg, and the yeast mixture. Mix together and knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it is soft and elastic.
  3. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Shape the rolls: Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 12×15 inches. Evenly spread the chopped strawberries over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll and slice: Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 8 equal rolls using a sharp knife or dental floss.
  6. Second rise: Arrange the cinnamon rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for 20 minutes to become puffy.
  7. Bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Glaze and serve: Prepare a simple glaze by mixing powdered sugar with a little milk or cream if desired, and drizzle over warm rolls. Serve immediately for soft, gooey strawberry cinnamon rolls.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen strawberries; if using frozen, thaw and drain them well to avoid soggy dough.
  • Be careful not to overfill the rolls to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
  • For a richer flavor, brush the top of the rolls with melted butter right after baking.
  • You can substitute the glaze with cream cheese frosting for a tangy contrast.
