Description
A flavorful Indian street-style wrap made with spiced paneer, sautéed veggies, and tangy chutneys all rolled inside a warm paratha or roti. Perfect as a quick lunch, snack, or dinner on the go.
Ingredients
For the Filling:
- 250 g paneer (Indian cottage cheese), cut into strips
- 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional, for extra heat)
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
- Juice of ½ lemon
For Assembly:
- 4 parathas or rotis (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons green chutney (mint-coriander)
- 2 tablespoons tamarind chutney (optional, for tanginess)
- Sliced onions, for topping
- Chaat masala, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers, sauté 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and green chili; sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in spices (turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin, salt) and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add paneer strips and cook for 3–4 minutes until coated and lightly golden. Finish with lemon juice and cilantro. Remove from heat.
- Warm parathas or rotis on a skillet.
- Spread green chutney (and tamarind chutney if using) on each paratha. Place paneer filling in the center, top with sliced onions, and sprinkle with chaat masala.
- Roll tightly into a wrap and serve hot.
Notes
- You can add shredded cabbage or lettuce for crunch.
- Swap paneer with tofu for a vegan version (use oil instead of ghee).
- For extra indulgence, add grated cheese before rolling.
