Description

A flavorful Indian street-style wrap made with spiced paneer, sautéed veggies, and tangy chutneys all rolled inside a warm paratha or roti. Perfect as a quick lunch, snack, or dinner on the go.

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 250 g paneer (Indian cottage cheese), cut into strips
  • 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional, for extra heat)
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of ½ lemon

For Assembly:

  • 4 parathas or rotis (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons green chutney (mint-coriander)
  • 2 tablespoons tamarind chutney (optional, for tanginess)
  • Sliced onions, for topping
  • Chaat masala, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers, sauté 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chili; sauté until fragrant.
  3. Stir in spices (turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin, salt) and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add paneer strips and cook for 3–4 minutes until coated and lightly golden. Finish with lemon juice and cilantro. Remove from heat.
  5. Warm parathas or rotis on a skillet.
  6. Spread green chutney (and tamarind chutney if using) on each paratha. Place paneer filling in the center, top with sliced onions, and sprinkle with chaat masala.
  7. Roll tightly into a wrap and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can add shredded cabbage or lettuce for crunch.
  • Swap paneer with tofu for a vegan version (use oil instead of ghee).
  • For extra indulgence, add grated cheese before rolling.
