Description
A warm, comforting crumble made with sweet pears, fresh ginger, cinnamon, and a crunchy oat topping. This spiced pear and ginger crumble is a cozy fall or winter dessert that pairs perfectly with vanilla ice cream, custard, or whipped cream, offering a perfect balance of soft, juicy fruit and a crisp, buttery topping.
Ingredients
Pear Filling:
- 4–5 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cornstarch
Crumble Topping:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish to prevent the crumble from sticking.
- Prepare Pear Filling: In a large bowl, toss the peeled and sliced pears with lemon juice, brown sugar, grated fresh ginger, cinnamon, and cornstarch until the fruit is evenly coated. Spread this mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Make Crumble Topping: In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture becomes crumbly and resembles coarse crumbs.
- Assemble: Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the pear filling in the baking dish, covering it completely.
- Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling hot.
- Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm. This crumble pairs beautifully with vanilla ice cream, custard, or whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.
