Description

These shawarma chicken and apple bites are a flavorful appetizer or party snack featuring spiced grilled chicken paired with crisp apple slices. The combination of smoky Middle Eastern spices and fresh sweetness makes them a unique, crowd-pleasing finger food.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts), cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tsp ground cumin

  • 2 tsp ground paprika

  • 1 tsp ground coriander

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 2 large crisp apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), cut into wedges

  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (for dipping, optional)

  • Fresh parsley or mint (for garnish)

  • Toothpicks or skewers (for serving)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and spices.

  • Add chicken pieces to the marinade, coating well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 4 hours).

  • Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly charred.

  • Arrange apple slices on a platter. Place one piece of grilled chicken on top of each slice and secure with a toothpick.

  • Garnish with fresh parsley or mint and serve with Greek yogurt dipping sauce, if desired.

Notes

  • Can also be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes if grilling isn’t available.

  • Use mini skewers for a party platter presentation.

  • Try pears instead of apples for a seasonal twist.
