Description

Savory Puff Pastry Bites are bite-sized, flaky treats filled with a variety of savory fillings like cheese, spinach, and herbs. These easy-to-make snacks are perfect for parties, appetizers, or a fun snack to enjoy with friends and family.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • 1/4 cup cooked spinach, squeezed dry
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese (optional for added richness)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh herbs (optional, such as parsley or thyme, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Use a knife or a cookie cutter to cut the pastry into small squares or circles, depending on your preference.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheese, cooked spinach, cream cheese (if using), garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of each pastry square or circle.
  5. Fold the pastry over the filling to create a pocket or fold the edges inwards to create a triangle shape. Press the edges to seal.
  6. Beat the egg and brush the top of each pastry bite with the egg wash for a golden finish.
  7. Arrange the pastry bites on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Feel free to get creative with the fillings! You can use sautéed mushrooms, beef, or even sun-dried tomatoes for a variety of flavors.
  • If you’re in a rush, store-bought puff pastry works perfectly for this recipe.
  • These can also be made ahead of time, assembled, and refrigerated until you’re ready to bake.
