Description
This rustic garlic rosemary skillet bread is a golden, fragrant delight, baked to perfection in a cast-iron pan. It’s crispy on the outside and irresistibly soft on the inside, infused with the aromatic flavors of garlic and rosemary.
Ingredients
Dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 ¼ cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for greasing)
Additional Flavorings:
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped (plus extra for topping)
- Flaky sea salt, for finishing
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm water and 1 tbsp olive oil. Mix until dough comes together.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough, then fold in minced garlic and chopped rosemary.
- Grease a cast-iron skillet with olive oil. Place dough in skillet, stretching to edges.
- Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Brush top with remaining olive oil, sprinkle with extra rosemary and flaky salt.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.

- For extra flavor, roast the garlic before adding it to the dough.

- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days; reheat in skillet for best texture.
