Description

Pepperoni Cheese Puffs are savory, bite-sized appetizers that combine the rich flavors of melted cheese and spicy pepperoni, all wrapped in a golden, puff pastry shell. These crispy, gooey treats are perfect for parties, game days, or any time you want a delicious snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed, if frozen)
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni (diced)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning (optional, for added flavor)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the puff pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. If using store-bought puff pastry, cut it into a 10-inch square or trim to fit.
  3. Make the filling: In a small bowl, combine diced pepperoni, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and Italian seasoning (optional). Stir until mixed evenly.
  4. Assemble the puffs: Cut the puff pastry into 9 equal squares (about 3 inches per square). Place about 1 tablespoon of the pepperoni and cheese mixture in the center of each square.
  5. Seal the puffs: Fold each square into a triangle, pinching the edges tightly to seal the filling inside. Ensure edges are sealed to prevent cheese from leaking out during baking.
  6. Prepare the egg wash: In a small bowl, whisk together egg and water. Brush the egg wash over the top of each puff for a golden, shiny finish.
  7. Bake the puffs: Place the puffs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
  8. Serve: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • To make vegetarian puffs, omit the pepperoni and add sautéed veggies or cheese blends instead.
  • For extra spice, add red pepper flakes or jalapeños to the filling.
  • These puffs can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking. Bake from frozen at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes.
