Description

A crispy, golden parmesan-coated chicken baked on one pan for an easy, flavorful dinner with minimal cleanup. This Parmesan Crusted Sheet Pan Chicken combines the rich flavors of parmesan and Italian seasoning with a crunchy breadcrumb coating, making it a perfect main course for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 chicken breasts

Coating

  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Other

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it reaches the optimal temperature for baking the chicken evenly.
  2. Prepare Coating Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the grated parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix these ingredients thoroughly so the flavors are well distributed.
  3. Brush Chicken: Lightly brush each chicken breast with olive oil on all sides. This helps the coating adhere better and promotes browning.
  4. Apply Coating: Press the parmesan and breadcrumb mixture firmly onto each chicken breast, ensuring a generous and even coating that will crisp up during baking.
  5. Arrange on Sheet Pan: Place the coated chicken breasts on a lined or lightly greased sheet pan in a single layer, leaving space between each piece for even cooking.
  6. Bake: Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through, the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), and the coating turns golden and crispy.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and optionally garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a burst of color and freshness. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Add vegetables such as asparagus, Brussels sprouts, or cherry tomatoes to the same sheet pan for a complete one-pan meal.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular crumbs for an extra crunchy crust.
  • Ensure not to overcrowd the pan to allow proper air circulation and even cooking.
  • Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes after baking to retain juices and enhance tenderness.
  • If gluten-free is needed, substitute regular breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs.
