Description
Hamburgers in the Oven are an easy, no-grill way to make juicy and flavorful burgers any time of year. Baked on a sheet pan, these burgers cook evenly, require minimal prep, and are perfect for quick weeknight dinners or feeding a crowd.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1½ lbs ground beef (80/20 recommended)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 4–6 hamburger buns
Optional Toppings
- Cheese slices
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Onion
- Pickles
- Ketchup
- Mustard
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Shape Patties: Divide the ground beef into 4 to 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty slightly larger than your hamburger buns to account for shrinkage while cooking.
- Season Patties: Season both sides of each patty evenly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to enhance flavor.
- Arrange on Sheet Pan: Place the seasoned patties onto the prepared sheet pan, spaced slightly apart for even cooking.
- Bake Burgers: Bake the patties in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time to ensure they cook evenly. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for a well-done burger.
- Add Cheese (Optional): If using cheese, add cheese slices onto the patties during the last 2 minutes of baking, allowing them to melt nicely.
- Assemble Burgers: Remove the patties from the oven and serve them on hamburger buns with your choice of toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, and mustard.
Notes
- For juicier burgers, avoid pressing down on the patties while they bake to retain moisture.
- Using a wire rack on top of the sheet pan allows grease to drip away from the patties for a less greasy burger if desired.
- Ground turkey or chicken can be substituted for ground beef for a leaner option.
- Leftover cooked patties store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and can be reheated for quick meals.
