Description
A simple and satisfying one-pot beef and rice pilaf cooked with aromatics and spices, delivering a wholesome and flavorful meal that’s perfect for a quick dinner.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 1/2 cups long-grain rice
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
Instructions
- Heat the Oil: Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat, preparing the base for sautéing the aromatics.
- Sauté the Aromatics: Add the diced onion to the pot and cook until it becomes soft and translucent. Then add the minced garlic and sauté briefly until fragrant.
- Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the pot, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until it is fully browned and no longer pink.
- Season the Meat: Stir in the paprika, ground cumin, salt, and pepper thoroughly to evenly distribute the spices throughout the beef.
- Add Rice and Broth: Pour in the long-grain rice and beef broth. Stir once to combine everything evenly, then bring the mixture to a boil.
- Simmer Covered: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer gently for 18–20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid. Avoid stirring during this time to ensure fluffy rice.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the pot from heat, fluff the rice with a fork, garnish with chopped parsley for freshness, and serve hot.
Notes
- Do not stir the rice while it cooks to prevent it from becoming mushy.
- For extra nutrition and flavor, add peas or diced carrots along with the rice and broth.
