Description

This one-pan beef and potato bake is a hearty, family-friendly dinner made with layers of seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and melted cheese. An easy comfort food recipe that’s baked to perfection with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or mozzarella)

  • 1 cup milk (or beef broth)

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

    • In a skillet, heat olive oil and cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano. Drain excess fat.

    • In a bowl, whisk together milk and sour cream until smooth.

    • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish. Spread half of the beef mixture over the potatoes. Repeat layers.

    • Pour the milk mixture evenly over the top. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.

    • Remove foil, sprinkle cheese over the top, and bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes, until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden.

  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

    • Use Yukon gold or russet potatoes for best results.

    • Can be made ahead and reheated the next day.

    • Swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
