Description
Nature’s Gatorade: Homemade Electrolyte Drink is a natural and hydrating beverage made with coconut water, citrus fruits, and a pinch of sea salt. Packed with electrolytes like potassium, sodium, and magnesium, it provides a refreshing, low-sugar alternative to store-bought sports drinks.
Ingredients
- 2 cups coconut water (preferably unsweetened)
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 2 limes)
- 1–2 tablespoons raw honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
- 1/4 teaspoon pink Himalayan sea salt or any natural sea salt
- 2 cups cold water
- Ice (optional)
Instructions
- Juice the fruits: Squeeze the juice from the lemons and limes into a small bowl, removing seeds. A citrus juicer can make this easier.
- Mix the ingredients: In a large pitcher, combine the coconut water, lemon juice, lime juice, and cold water. Stir well.
- Sweeten (optional): Add honey or maple syrup if desired. Stir until the sweetener dissolves completely.
- Add the salt: Add the sea salt and stir until fully dissolved to replenish lost sodium.
- Chill and serve: Add ice if you prefer a chilled drink or serve immediately over ice.
- Enjoy: Drink up to hydrate and replenish your electrolytes naturally.
Notes
- Tropical twist: Add pineapple or orange juice for a tropical flavor. Fresh mint also adds a refreshing touch.
- Cucumber electrolyte drink: Blend in cucumber slices for extra hydration.
- Electrolyte boost: Add magnesium powder or potassium chloride for extra electrolytes.
- Herbal infusion: Add basil, mint, or ginger for a unique herbal flavor.
- Sugar-free option: Omit the sweetener or use stevia or monk fruit for a sugar-free version.
