Description

Juicy bite-sized meatballs served on toothpicks make the perfect party appetizer. Pair them with your favorite dipping sauces for a crowd-pleasing finger food that’s easy to make ahead and keep warm.

Ingredients

Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or beef, turkey, or a mix)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)

For Serving:

  • Toothpicks, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare meatball mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and oregano. Mix until just combined.
  3. Form meatballs: Roll mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on the baking sheet.
  4. Bake: Bake 15–18 minutes, or until meatballs are browned and cooked through.
  5. Cool and serve: Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Insert a toothpick into each meatball for serving.
  6. Serve: Serve warm with marinara sauce, BBQ sauce, or honey mustard for dipping.

Notes

  • To keep warm for a party, place cooked meatballs in a slow cooker on “warm” with sauce.
  • Make ahead: Shape meatballs and freeze raw on a tray. Transfer to a bag, then bake from frozen (adding 3–4 minutes extra cook time).
  • Mini cocktail sausages can also be swapped in for variety.
