Description

These McGriddle muffins are a homemade twist on the fast-food favorite—fluffy maple-infused muffins layered with savory sausage, egg, and melty cheese for the ultimate grab-and-go breakfast.


Ingredients

For the maple muffins:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup melted butter

For the filling:

  • 6 breakfast sausage patties
  • 6 large eggs
  • 6 slices American cheese (or cheddar)
  • Maple syrup, for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line a 12-cup muffin tin.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, mix egg, buttermilk, maple syrup, and melted butter.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon a tablespoon of batter into each muffin cup.
  6. Add a sausage patty and a piece of cheese, then top with beaten egg (scrambled or baked separately and cut into rounds).
  7. Cover with remaining batter, spreading to fully enclose the filling.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
  9. Let cool slightly before removing from the tin. Drizzle with maple syrup if desired.
