Description
A quick and flavorful one-pan beef skillet with the perfect balance of savory Dijon mustard and sweet maple syrup — ready in under 30 minutes!
Ingredients
Beef:
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
Vegetables:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
Sauce:
- ¼ cup beef broth
- 3 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tsp fresh thyme (or ½ tsp dried)
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
Optional Garnish:
- fresh parsley, sesame seeds
Instructions
- Sear Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced beef and sear for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add onion, garlic, and peppers. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Prepare Sauce: Whisk together beef broth, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Cook: Return beef to skillet, pour in sauce mixture, and toss to coat. Cook for another 3–4 minutes until sauce thickens slightly and beef is cooked through.
- Serve: Garnish and serve immediately over rice, quinoa, or mashed potatoes.
Notes
- Adjust maple syrup for sweetness — add more for a sweeter sauce, less for a sharper flavor.
- Works well with chicken or pork strips too.
- Double the sauce if serving over grains for extra coverage.
