Description

A quick and flavorful one-pan beef skillet with the perfect balance of savory Dijon mustard and sweet maple syrup — ready in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients

Beef:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced

Vegetables:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced

Sauce:

  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • 3 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (or ½ tsp dried)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

Optional Garnish:

  • fresh parsley, sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Sear Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced beef and sear for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add onion, garlic, and peppers. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Prepare Sauce: Whisk together beef broth, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Cook: Return beef to skillet, pour in sauce mixture, and toss to coat. Cook for another 3–4 minutes until sauce thickens slightly and beef is cooked through.
  5. Serve: Garnish and serve immediately over rice, quinoa, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • Adjust maple syrup for sweetness — add more for a sweeter sauce, less for a sharper flavor.
  • Works well with chicken or pork strips too.
  • Double the sauce if serving over grains for extra coverage.
