Description

These Loaded Tater Tot Appetizer Cups are a fun and delicious party treat, featuring crispy tater tots shaped into mini cups and loaded with beef, cheese, sour cream, and green onions. Perfect for game days, parties, or any gathering, these bite-sized cups are sure to be a crowd-pleaser and are easy to make in just one pan

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots

  • 1 cup cooked beef, crumbled (about 6 slices)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for greasing the muffin tin)

  • Optional: Jalapeño slices or additional toppings (like avocado or ranch dressing)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a muffin tin with olive oil or non-stick cooking spray.

  • Prepare the Tater Tots:

    • Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake according to the package instructions until crispy and golden, usually about 20-25 minutes.

  • Form the Tater Tot Cups:

    • Once the tater tots are cooked, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.

    • Gently press 3-4 tater tots into the bottom of each muffin cup to form a “cup” shape. You can use the back of a spoon or your fingers to mold the tater tots into the shape of a cup.

    • Place the muffin tin back in the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes to ensure the tater tot cups are crisp and firm.

  • Assemble the Loaded Cups:

    • Once the tater tot cups are ready, remove them from the oven.

    • Sprinkle the crumbled beef and shredded cheddar cheese evenly into each cup. Return to the oven for 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Finish and Serve:

    • Remove the tater tot cups from the oven and let them cool slightly.

    • Top each cup with a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of green onions, and any other optional toppings like jalapeños, avocado, or ranch dressing.

  • Serve immediately while they’re hot and crispy!

Notes

  • You can easily make these cups vegetarian by omitting the beef and adding extra veggies like bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives.

  • If you prefer a spicier version, try adding some jalapeño slices or hot sauce to the sour cream topping.

  • These can be made ahead by assembling the tater tot cups and refrigerating them. Just bake the cheese and toppings when ready to serve.

  • For extra flavor, mix some taco seasoning into the sour cream or cheese.
