Description

Irresistible French Beef is a comforting dish inspired by classic French cuisine, featuring tender beef slow-cooked , onions, carrots, garlic, and herbs in a rich, savory sauce. Perfect for an elegant dinner or a cozy family meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into 2-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 oz mushrooms, halved
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Season beef cubes with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat and sear beef in batches until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, add onion, carrots, and garlic. Sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in tomato paste and flour, cooking for 1–2 minutes.
  5. Pour in red wine and scrape the bottom of the pot to deglaze. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Add beef broth, bay leaves, thyme, and seared beef back into the pot. Stir well.
  7. Cover and transfer to the oven. Cook for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, until beef is fork-tender.
  8. In the last 30 minutes, stir in mushrooms.
  9. Remove bay leaves, adjust seasoning, and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
  10. Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty French bread.
