Description

A classic warm cocktail made with whiskey, honey, lemon, and spices. Perfect for chilly nights, soothing a sore throat, or winding down before bed.


Ingredients

Whiskey Hot Toddy:

  • 1 ½ oz whiskey (bourbon, rye, or Irish whiskey)
  • 1 tbsp honey (or maple syrup)
  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ¾ cup hot water (not boiling)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 23 whole cloves

For Garnish:

  • Lemon wheel
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Star anise (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof mug, add whiskey, honey, and lemon juice. Pour in hot water and stir until honey dissolves.
  2. Add cinnamon stick, cloves, and optional spices for infusion. Let steep 3–5 minutes, then garnish with a lemon wheel and cinnamon stick.
  3. Sip slowly while warm.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey.
  • For a soothing version, add a few slices of fresh ginger.
  • Swap whiskey with brandy or dark rum for a variation.
  • Great for colds—add a dash of cayenne for a little kick.
