Description
A classic warm cocktail made with whiskey, honey, lemon, and spices. Perfect for chilly nights, soothing a sore throat, or winding down before bed.
Ingredients
Whiskey Hot Toddy:
- 1 ½ oz whiskey (bourbon, rye, or Irish whiskey)
- 1 tbsp honey (or maple syrup)
- ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
- ¾ cup hot water (not boiling)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2–3 whole cloves
For Garnish:
- Lemon wheel
- Cinnamon stick
- Star anise (optional)
Instructions
- In a heatproof mug, add whiskey, honey, and lemon juice. Pour in hot water and stir until honey dissolves.
- Add cinnamon stick, cloves, and optional spices for infusion. Let steep 3–5 minutes, then garnish with a lemon wheel and cinnamon stick.
- Sip slowly while warm.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey.
- For a soothing version, add a few slices of fresh ginger.
- Swap whiskey with brandy or dark rum for a variation.
- Great for colds—add a dash of cayenne for a little kick.
