Description
Hot Honey Feta Chicken combines the richness of feta cheese with sweet and spicy hot honey. Topped with creamy feta and drizzled with a flavorful honey sauce, this dish is a perfect balance of savory, sweet, and spicy. Ideal for a quick weeknight dinner or special occasion.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (such as sriracha or Frank’s RedHot)
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, until golden brown and nearly cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine the crumbled feta cheese, sour cream or Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried oregano. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Spoon the feta mixture evenly over the top of the chicken breasts. Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 10 minutes, until the feta is warm and the chicken is fully cooked.
- While the chicken is baking, combine the honey, hot sauce, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small saucepan. Heat over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it’s warm and well combined.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove the skillet from the oven. Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the chicken breasts, and garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color.
- Serve hot with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables or rice.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, use tofu or paneer instead of chicken.
- If you prefer extra cheese, you can sprinkle shredded mozzarella or Parmesan on top of the chicken before baking.
- For more heat, add extra red pepper flakes or use a hotter hot sauce.
- This recipe also works well with chicken thighs if you prefer dark meat.
