Ingredients
Butter Batter
- 4 tbsp softened butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar (or sugar-free brown sweetener)
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- Pinch of cloves
- Pinch of salt
Drink
- 2 oz dark or spiced rum
- ¾ cup hot water
- Optional: whipped cream
- Optional: cinnamon stick
Instructions
- Prepare the butter batter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Add butter batter to mug: Spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons of the prepared butter mixture into a mug to create the base of the drink.
- Pour rum: Add 2 ounces of dark or spiced rum over the butter batter in the mug.
- Add hot water and stir: Pour ¾ cup of hot water into the mug and stir thoroughly until the buttery mixture melts completely into the drink, creating a rich, creamy texture.
- Garnish and serve: Optionally top the drink with whipped cream and add a cinnamon stick for garnish. Serve warm and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover butter batter in the fridge for up to 1 week.
- For a creamier twist, substitute the hot water with hot apple cider or unsweetened almond milk.
- To make a keto-friendly version, use a sugar-free sweetener instead of brown sugar in the butter mix.
