Description

A cozy classic winter cocktail made with a rich spiced butter batter and hot rum. This warm, creamy drink is perfect for sipping by the fire during cold weather or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Butter Batter

  • 4 tbsp softened butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (or sugar-free brown sweetener)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • Pinch of cloves
  • Pinch of salt

Drink

  • 2 oz dark or spiced rum
  • ¾ cup hot water
  • Optional: whipped cream
  • Optional: cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Prepare the butter batter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Add butter batter to mug: Spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons of the prepared butter mixture into a mug to create the base of the drink.
  3. Pour rum: Add 2 ounces of dark or spiced rum over the butter batter in the mug.
  4. Add hot water and stir: Pour ¾ cup of hot water into the mug and stir thoroughly until the buttery mixture melts completely into the drink, creating a rich, creamy texture.
  5. Garnish and serve: Optionally top the drink with whipped cream and add a cinnamon stick for garnish. Serve warm and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Store leftover butter batter in the fridge for up to 1 week.
  • For a creamier twist, substitute the hot water with hot apple cider or unsweetened almond milk.
  • To make a keto-friendly version, use a sugar-free sweetener instead of brown sugar in the butter mix.
